When Steve Jobs was luring John Sculley away from Pepsi to become the CEO of Apple, Steve asked John “Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water or do you want a chance to change the world?” So this isn’t the exact quote that Matt Gellis used on me when he was convincing me to join Keystone Solutions but it is pretty damn close and to be honest, it is the reason I am here today!
If we are going to change the world, we need to break out of our comfort zones and push into new communities and unchartered territories. To best serve our customers, our partners, and the digital measurement community, Keystone Solutions is pushing into those very territories so that we can be involved in every digital measurement
conversation. Everywhere.
As I began to build out the Community Solutions practice at Keystone, I quickly realized that I needed help. I needed a person who could bring passion and could help bridge that gap between digital measurement, social media, and marketing. The search was difficult. So many amazing people but the fit had to be just right.
I found someone who believes that marketing and social media are critical but should be viewed as spokes in a wheel; someone who believes in and excels at creating measurable and integrated digital strategies; someone who was the perfect fit for the Keystone culture.
Without further pontificating, because I’m simply not good at it, I am pleased to announce that Keith Burtis is joining Keystone as Director of Social Media Solutions. Keith joins Keystone Solutions from New Marketing Labs where he served as Director of Client Strategy. Prior to his time with New Marketing Labs, Keith ran a private digital consultancy where he helped businesses craft ROI-focused social media strategy and infrastructure. Keith also served as the Social Media Manager for the Best Buy Remix project where he grew an open developer community from 200 members to over 1200 members in nine months.
Keith will be playing a critical role in guiding and expanding Keystone’s social media offerings, community involvement, and branding efforts, as well as providing robust social optimization strategies.
I am personally excited that Keith is joining the team at Keystone. With his industry knowledge, experience, and connections, he will be a key player in expanding Keystone’s social media offerings both from a strategy perspective and a product perspective.
Keith will initially be focused on creating a new consulting line at Keystone, which will fit nicely into and support our existing service offerings. In addition to his consulting responsibilities, Keith will also be working closely with Rudi Shumpert, Sr. Director of Technology Solutions, in the creation of a robust social media product which will be in beta shortly.
Please join me in welcoming Keith to the Keystone family. Keith will be joining me in Utah for several weeks this summer, so if you happen to be in the area, you are welcome to join us for a crawfish boil and maybe, just maybe, a fly fishing adventure!


For a fly fishing adventure, I recommend Fish Creek just below Scofield Reservoir. Great fishing, little traffic. Oh, and congrats Keith and Keystone!
